The Cause

BC Women’s and the Women’s Foundation

The Ismaili Walk has chosen BC Women’s Foundation as its partner organization for 2008 through to 2010.

The money you raise while participating in the Ismaili Walk for Women will help further the work of the Women’s Health Research Institute (WHRI) at BC Women’s.

The Voice for Women

The WHRI is the voice of women’s health research for the scientific community, bringing women’s health issues to the forefront of government and public decision-makers. In this and so many other ways, the WHRI is helping to improve women’s lives today and make a difference for future generations.

Funds raised by Ismaili Walk donors are making a difference

With the funds raised by the Ismaili Walk for Women in 2008 and 2009, the WHRI has been able to award catalyst grants to four research projects, as well as infrastructure grants to two project teams.

2010 GRANT COMPETITION

Two types of awards were provided by the WHRI in 2009:

1. Team Infrastructure Funding aims to support new groups of researchers coming together to plan collaborative research activities related to women’s health. The funding is anticipated to support team planning activities such as the determination of research plans, priority setting, the formation of further collaborations and the refinement of research methodologies.

2. Catalyst Grant Funding supports pilot studies in women’s health which aim to generate preliminary data, test new approaches, methodologies or tools. The funding supports activities that will enable the pursuit of more ambitious studies and foster further funding applications.

A total of 50 applications were received for the six awards, with $25,000 awarded to each successful application.
